Web/Mobile App Critique


If you have a mobile phone, you may have a favorite mobile app you like to use. As for myself, I do not have many mobile apps that I use on my phone. The only app that I use daily is Apple music because music helps my day go by at work. Below is my own personal review of the mobile app.

What is Apple Music?

Apple Music is a mobile app that’s preinstalled on your iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, or Apple watch. The app is not free, but if you purchase a new device you will get a 6-month trial. After the trial is over with, you will pay $10.99 for access. You can get a family plan which is for 5 devices for $16.99. With the app, you can search and download songs, watch music videos, and listen to Radio stations. After doing research, I found that you can also download Apple music on Windows and some Android devices. According to the Apple's support website, to download the app on android the device must be Android 5.0 Lollipop or later. If you have a gaming console, you can download the app on PlayStation 5. Once downloaded you can login with your apple id and listen to your favorite tunes while playing the video game. The app is very similar to other music streaming services, but it has more features than the free version of Pandora. I have not experienced any other music streaming apps other than Pandora and Apple music. I can only give my thoughts on how much Apple music is better than Pandora free version.

Benefits and Dislikes

As I said, it is like other streaming apps, but what makes it different to me is that you can download your favorite songs to your device. All you have to do is add the song to your library. It's really easy to search for songs and with one click add them to your library. If you look up an artist, you can search for any song or album created by that artist. Once the song is added to your library it is downloaded your phone. Unlike Spotify, Apple Music keeps your downloaded songs on your phone until you delete it. One thing that I like most about the app is that you can share your music with your family and friends that use the app. If your friend or family member has Apple Music, you can follow them to see what they’re listening to. This feature must be enabled by the user so you just can't follow someone and see their playlist. There is an option that you can setup to approve someone to see your playlist. You have an unlimited library and over 100 million songs at your disposal. Whatever song you can think of, it’s more than likely on Apple music. Any new music album that comes out, you can listen to it. And compared to Pandora’s free version, I have never listened to a single commercial while streaming music.There is one downfall that I do not like about Apple music. If you stop paying for your subscription you will not have access to your library. Yes, even if you download your favorite songs to your phone you will still not access. That's really gripe I have over Apple music.

Recommendations

First, I love the app, but I do not have much space on my phone. If you love music like I do, you will probably download many songs. Depending how much space you have, after a while you will run out of space. You can set up Apple music to remove songs when you haven’t listened to them in a while by going into setting. I would have loved for that to be built into the app to automatically help save space. It would also be cool if you could listen to certain podcasts. With the free version of Pandora, I was able to listen to podcasts. Unfortunately, you will have to download Apple Podcast to listen to podcast. If Apple music and podcast was all in one app it would’ve been great. Other than that, the app is great for music streaming and I would recommend it to anyone.

In Week 2 of my Information Technology course, I created a journal where I created an entry on how Microsoft Word is used daily.Most of my encounters with Microsoft Word are at work and at home doing my school work.Most of Microsoft Windows’s software that is used for writing and presentation have some of the same functionality.
